A Brief Treatise On Transgenderism and the Military
Being a good Pittsburgher, I was perusing the Pittsburgh Post Gazette yesterday, and I stumbled across an article titled “Federal judge blocks Trump administration from banning transgender people from military service.” [1] The article explains that “U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes in Washington, D.C., ruled that Trump’s order to exclude transgender troops from military service likely violates their constitutional rights.” Notice, reader, the word “likely.” This word should indicate to you that this is an attempt to overcome your perception of rationality and common sense with the fog of delusion and emotion. This word indicates, among other things, that they are making this ruling based upon feelings, ideology, and a misguided sense of justice rather than objective truth, law, and rationality. At any rate, I’m not writing this article to discuss how trashy the Post Gazette is, or how retarded this district judge is, but rather I am interested in briefly discussing the nature of transgenders being permitted to join the military from a psychological perspective.
Mental Illness
First, it must be noted that the military is quite selective in who is let in. In order to be admitted into military service one must pass a battery of physical and psychological examinations. The reason for this is simple and two-fold. 1) The military desires able-bodied men who will be able to fight and win, and 2) they don’t want people to come into the military already broken, then cut their service short, and subsequently claim a disability when it wasn’t the fault of the military.
Second, it is common knowledge that “According to the Department of Defense, [a person is] disqualified from serving in the U.S. military if you have a current diagnosis or a history of most mental disorders. The presence of any disorder with psychotic features, such as schizophrenia or a delusional disorder, does not allow one to serve.”[2] This would (or should) include what the DSM-5 labels as “Gender Dysphoria.” How would we define someone who has a penis and thinks he shouldn’t, or a woman who has breasts and yet wishes to cut them off? As delusional, right?
Transgenderism (gender dysphoria) is - despite notions to the contrary - a mental disorder. Despite common sense and the absolute nature of this fact, there are still many in our culture who would disagree. Those who disagree would say that only some people who are transgender will experience gender dysphoria (a distinction without a difference), and that in fact it is only the psychological distress that results from an incongruence between one’s sex assigned at birth and one’s gender identity that is the mental disorder. It is the distress that is the disorder, not the desire to be something other than what God made you, mutilate your body, and believe that men can give birth. Absolute poppycock.
However, both by virtue of being listed in the DSM-5 (which exists solely to outline mental disorders for the purpose of diagnosis and insurance payments[3]) and the actual diagnosis and description listed in the DSM-5, it is obvious that the “psychological experts” at the APA believe this is a mental disorder worthy of medical (psychological) treatment.[4] Meaning, if one has this condition he or she is necessarily disqualified from military service.
From a psychological perspective, these people are very, very sick, and far from being able to fight effectively or strategically for our county, they should be getting tremendous care for the severity with which their “disease” presents itself. They are mentally incompetent people, unable to live in reality, detached from any notion of authenticity. If the American Psychological Association is correct, then these people need to receive immediate help so they do not cause harm to themselves or others, not join the military and be given a gun. They are body mutilators, unable to discern truth from fiction, detached from reality, and advocates for others who may have similar confusion to mutilate themselves as well. This is very dangerous, very dangerous indeed.
Trump’s Position
What the Trump administration, under the immediate leadership of Pete Hegseth, has done is ban all mentally ill people diagnosed with Gender Dysphoria from military service because this “medical condition has been linked to depression and suicidal thoughts”[5] - conditions which no Marine on the front lines wants to be thinking about when the bullets start flying. Conditions which no submariner wants to be wondering if his partner for battle stations is plagued with. Conditions that no pilot wants to wonder if his ground crew is experiencing.
But, instead of sanity prevailing and people recognizing this “mental illness” for what it is, we have arguably even more mentally ill people advocating for these crazies to be able to continue their service in the U.S. Military. But these people forget that President Trump is the duly elected Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces. He has very broad and near total power to do with the armed forces what he deems to be fit.[6] The President is primarily responsible for foreign relations as well as the safety and security of American citizens from enemies both foreign and domestic. All of this entails the reality and necessity that the President has the responsibility and the right to enable that military force to be as lethal and powerful as possible. In order for this to happen, incapable bodies must be removed.
What Trump has recognized, and has been recognized for millennia, is that women, weak men, and the physically and mentally incompetent have no role in military service. Women have not been given by God for protection in military service, weak men are a disgrace to true masculinity and do not deserve the honor of military service, and the mentally and physically inept are simply a dead weight and danger to the functioning of military force. It is that simple, and Trump and Hegseth understand this. The mentally unstable transgenders must be disallowed from weakening the armed forces of America.
Conclusion
We ought to desire that these “mentally ill” people get the help they need, not join the military, call themselves Rachel, wear a skirt, grow their hair long, and disgrace our nation in the process.
But in truth, these people don’t have a “mental illness” if there ever were such a thing. These people are sinners. They hate God, they hate themselves, they hate you, and they take pleasure in making a mockery of femininity, masculinity, and the Christian heritage of America. What Hegseth and Trump are doing is right, and we ought to pray that their efforts to cleanse the military of this gross sin would be successfully accomplished.
