Your Many Mercies - Psalm 119:41
David does not seek these mercies out for others, but for himself only. No man can redeem another, we can only beseech the Lord on their behalf. But, we can certainly ensure that we are united to Christ
When The Lord Says “Not Yet” — A Reflection on 2023
The Lord has been at work in my life and has been teaching me many things, of which I hope to share a small bit with you here. God is always at work, really, even when we aren’t aware of it. Over the last bit of my life, however, I have been afforded the kindness of being more aware of it than normal.
Jerusalem the Golden
Jerusalem the Golden is a hymn, composed by Alexander Ewing in 1853. He took the words from an ancient Medieval hymn, written by Bernard of Cluny in the 1100s.
A Promise of Forgiveness
When someone is raised with an expectation that what is needed for pardon is to degrade yourself until the offended feels better or continually apologize and grovel until you’ve learned your lesson, it's difficult to see how forgiveness can be so easy and free, or that someone would really desire to forgive you.
Three Ways to Sing the Psalms
We, as reformed, confessional Christians, argue that the Word of God is a sufficient rule for all of faith and life, and that includes our music. Our Triune God has given us a hymnbook, smack dab in the middle of our Bibles, and its contents should make up the majority of our worship.
Sing The Lord’s Prayer
This prayer is recorded in two of our Gospel accounts, both in Matthew and in Luke (11:2-4). The four Gospels being the first recognized books of the New Covenant[1], the early church recognized the importance of the Lord’s Prayer
Confirm Your Promise - Psalm 119:38
But notice, the psalmist recognizes his station. He is God’s servant, his slave, subjected to the Lord and attending to the Lord’s will, rather than to his own. For, here we learn that many would wish to make the Lord their subject and require him to grant all that they have promised themselves in arrogant thoughtlessness.
God Will Forgive You
“You mean, all I have to do is drink this cup and I’ll be forgiven? All my sins will be wiped away?” Yes! Only in this cup, this blood, can God and man come and live together.
Worthless Things - Psalm 119:37
The sweet psalmist of Israel here conjures up a request against a besetting sin that not a single soul is spared from gazing upon vanity! With a slow, and intentional reading, the saints of God feel the weight of this request into the core and who they are
In The Path - Psalm 119:35
We see first, that the psalmist asks the Lord the “lead” him in the path. This can also been translated as “make me walk,” but the idea being conveyed is that of bending a bow. Before the archer makes ready his weapon he has but wood and string.
Blogcast: Adam And Eve Were Never Perfect
Were Adam and Eve perfect? Well not necessarily. We are often told things in our traditions and families that aren't actually in accordance with the bible. So, it's good to reorient ourselves to the scripture and reconsider some things - especially something like this!
Counseling Theology: Dichotomy. Counseling implications. Inner and Outer Man.
It is customary, especially in Christian circles, to conceive of man as consisting of two, and only two, distinct parts, namely, body and soul. This view is technically called dichotomy.

Counseling Theology: The Image of God In Man
The question of identity is a perennial one. A question that our American culture seems to be struggling to know and understand more than ever before - at least in my life time.
Counseling Theology - The Attributes of God and the Practical Implications of Each Attribute For Life and Counseling
The idea of God’s wrath is, while an attribute of God, does not exist in a vacuum, and stems ultimately from the holiness and love of God. It is the holiness and righteousness of God that requires his wrath upon sin and sinners alike.
Counseling Theology - Noetic Effects of Sin & The Ability of Secular Psychologists to Understand The Human Condition
Although common grace exists and is glorious, this does not mean that everything that an unbeliever says or does is therefore correct. Sin has so corrupted every single aspect of life that every part of our being is affected by this curse, up to and including our minds.
Counseling Theology - Common Grace and The Ability of Secular Psychologists to Truly Understand The Human Condition.
Common grace is the language we use to describe and understand God and his bountiful kindness on all that he has created.
