Who Are God’s Enemies?
The confession articulates – in no uncertain terms – that salvation is within God’s covenant, yet it is only a possibility, not a guarantee. One way Jesus articulated this truth was by his parable of the wheat and the tares (Matthew 13:24-43).
A Strong Defense - Psalm 119:42
How often do the saints of God feel ill equipped to answer those who come against our Lord? How quickly do we become dismayed with feelings of inadequacy, incompetence, and weakness that overcome us when we are opposed by infidels? This is an all-to-often occurrence for the redeemed, but it ought not be.
Resurrection Blessings
A confession without action is of little use. One way we can realize our confession is by meditating on the wonderful benefits that the resurrection bestows upon believers and worshipping God for those benefits.
Your Many Mercies - Psalm 119:41
David does not seek these mercies out for others, but for himself only. No man can redeem another, we can only beseech the Lord on their behalf. But, we can certainly ensure that we are united to Christ
Counseling Theology: Christ’s Dual Natures
Considering the biblical teaching regarding the divinity of Christ. One place to look would be to the teaching of Paul found in Philippians 2. In verse 6 Paul plainly traces Christ’s life from eternity past, when he was in the form of God and equal to God, saying, “though [Jesus] was in the form of God, [he] did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped.”
Justification and Salvation
Our works, which may be called good, are only such as God has commanded in his word, and not those which are devised by men out of blind zeal, or upon any pretense of good intention (WCF 16.1).
Doxology Doctrine: Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow
This charge asserts that worship through song consists, in part, of God’s people singing words that they understand. Therefore, to worship God through singing the first line of the Doxology, one must comprehend what it means that all blessings flow from Him
Limited Atonement
Imagine you’re going on a pleasant hike through some unnamed wood. You hear from a distance what sounds like rushing waters, babbling over rocks. Nostalgic sounds of sloshing water against the rivers edge begin to fill the air, till’ finally you reach it - the bank of the river.
Counseling Theology - Common Grace and The Ability of Secular Psychologists to Truly Understand The Human Condition.
Common grace is the language we use to describe and understand God and his bountiful kindness on all that he has created.
TBHF Podcast: Remember What God Has Done and Simple Money Principles
Today Nick talks about the next step in biblical change. We remember what God has done for us in Christ and this becomes our motivation for all the change we experience. We also talk about some very basic biblical principles about money and how to remain faithful in these days of inflation and a looming recession.
Blogcast: Accepted In Christ
In this episode, we encourage those saints struggling with sin by examining Paul's message to the Corinthian church and WCF 17, Of the Perseverance of the Saints.
Accepted in Christ - (3 Min Read)
Paul knew full well the issues in the Corinthian church at that present moment. He did not set into writing this letter without full knowledge of the status of this congregation.
Podcast: Day 1: The First Advent
This introductory episode describes the primary purpose of Christ's first advent: to save his people from their sins (Matthew 1:21).
Theology of the Pentateuch: A Primer
Since the Pentateuch consists of God’s revelation of himself, his creation, and his redemption of his creation, a proper theology of the Pentateuch studies and presents the concepts of God, Humanity, and Salvation within the first five books of the Old Testament.
The Perfect Obedience & Sacrifice of Christ (8 Minutes)
The work of Christ is something that, frankly, boggles the mind; if indeed, one ponders upon it with sincerity. Grasp with me for a moment the unthinkable nature of what our Savior did for his elect. The very God who set all things as they are, with perfect purpose and power, designed to save his people.
A Christmas Celebration
In the first chapter of John’s Gospel, he writes that “the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth” (v. 14). We stand in awe when we read this (or we ought to), because we are told that the eternal Son of God took on human flesh, and chose to live in the midst of his people.
